A hike across the wintery high plateau of the Tauplitzalm with beautiful views and cosy places to stop for refreshments.

The approximately 5.3 km long winter hike across the high plateau of the Tauplitzalm offers magnificent views and cosy places to stop for refreshments.
It takes about two hours, is considered moderately difficult and requires a certain level of fitness.
The start is either at the car park on the Tauplitzalm or at the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift. The groomed trail leads past the Naturfreundehaus, the snow-covered Tauplitzsee lake, to the Grazerhütte and on to the Linzerhaus, before returning to the starting point.

The journey to Tauplitz to the valley station is best planned with google.at/maps.

You can get to Tauplitzalm from Bad Mitterndorf via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road.

There are plenty of free parking spaces available in Tauplitz and on the Tauplitzalm.

On the 5.3 km long hike, you will encounter the diverse possibilities of the wintery Tauplitzalm. The plateau is very clear, so you can also choose your own personal variations during the hike. With a duration of approx. 2 hours, the hike is classified as moderately difficult and therefore requires a good level of fitness.

The hike can be started from the car park on the Tauplitzalm, where there is ample parking, or from the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift.

The hike follows a prepared snowcat track via the Naturfreundehaus to the snow-covered Tauplitzsee lake at the foot of the Traweng and on to the Grazerhütte. Continue in a wide arc and
you will reach the Linzerhaus. After a short rest, continue to the Naturfreundehaus and you will soon reach the starting point of the hike.

Proper backpacking makes many things easier:

pack heavy things first.
The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket.
All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top.
An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended.
